Latvian public broadcaster LSM reported that the Latvian Radio programme Krustpunktā is hosting a debate among prime minister candidates standing in Latvia’s 15th Saeima election.

The candidates are Andris Kulbergs of the United List, Ainārs Šlesers of Latvia First, Ilze Indriksone of the National Alliance, Svetlana Čulkova of For Stability! and Viktors Valainis of the Union of Greens and Farmers.

The candidates are discussing their visions and plans for the next parliamentary term.

The 15th Saeima election will be held on Saturday, October 3. Polling stations will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and voters will be able to cast their ballots at any polling station.

Fourteen candidate lists have been submitted for the election. From September 28 until election day, voters will also be able to deposit their ballots for safekeeping at all polling stations in Latvia during designated hours.

The pre-election campaign began on June 5. The newly elected 15th Saeima will hold its first sitting on November 3, when the mandate of the 14th Saeima will also end.
