Andreas Melts toured seven countries with a plastic bag

Musician and comedian Andreas Melts travelled around the world in 23 days with only a grocery bag, ERR reported. During the trip in July, he visited Canada, the United States, Taiwan, India, Ethiopia, Rwanda and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“I have wanted to become a diplomat for a long time. That did not work out, and I felt I needed a challenge to somehow bring Estonia to the world while experiencing different languages, cultures and countries through a gimmick,” Melts said on the programme “Hommik Anuga”.

A friend suggested that he travel with a plastic bag. It contained both essential and less essential items, including shoes, a hat, sunglasses, shirts and socks, as well as a German-language copy of “The Little Prince”, instructions for paracetamol, a map of northeastern Estonia that could be read without a magnifying glass and a hair comb.

“I took the comb because history is very important to me. I am very interested in the history of different countries and how it is told, as well as my own history. My hair, which is no longer there, is part of my history,” he explained.
