LRT reports that rainy weather will gradually give way to drier and warmer conditions next week, according to forecaster Ineta Daunoravičiūtė of the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service.

Saturday will remain cloudy, wet and unpleasant as a low-pressure system continues to affect Lithuania. Rain will fall intermittently in most areas, with heavier showers possible mainly in western Lithuania. Isolated thunderstorms may also occur during the day.

Southwesterly to westerly winds will strengthen, with gusts of 15 to 20 metres per second in many parts of the country. Along the coast, gusts could reach 23 metres per second in the morning. Temperatures will range from 14 to 19 degrees Celsius.

The same cyclone will remain close to Lithuania on Sunday night, but less rain is expected. There will be more breaks in the clouds, although brief showers will still affect much of the country. Winds will ease in most districts, while gusts of 15 to 18 metres per second will continue along the coast. Temperatures will fall to 9 to 14 degrees.

On Sunday, higher pressure will gradually strengthen. Brief showers will still pass through many districts, but rainfall will be lighter. Sunshine and clearer spells will become more frequent, while winds will ease and shift to the northwest and west. Temperatures will rise to 16 to 21 degrees.

High pressure will strengthen over Lithuania on Monday. Rain will be limited, with only isolated light showers possible. Winds will ease to moderate levels. Clearer skies overnight and in the morning will bring temperatures of 8 to 13 degrees, while daytime temperatures will reach 18 to 23 degrees.

Forecasters expect temperatures to rise slightly further in the following days.
