Latvia’s public broadcaster LTV is focusing its second election programme on the Latvijas attīstībai party, LSM reported. The series, Partija fokusā, is intended to help voters make an informed choice in the elections for Latvia’s 15th Saeima.
The programmes feature political parties that had at least 2% support in an SKDS public opinion poll conducted in early August. Each broadcast invites the leaders of the party lists in five election districts, with the candidates ranked first, second or third.
The programme also includes an analysis of the party’s record over the past four years, where applicable, and voters’ views on how they assess the party. It examines whether pre-election promises are merely intended to attract voters’ attention or can serve as a basis for holding politicians accountable.
The series is hosted by LTV journalists Guntis Bojārs, Dāvids Freidenfelds, Gusts Kikusts and Sigurds Siliņš.
The elections for the 15th Saeima will take place on October 3. Polling stations will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and voters will be able to cast their ballots at any polling station.
Fourteen candidate lists have been submitted for the elections. Votes can be deposited for safekeeping at all polling stations between September 28 and election day during designated hours. The newly elected Saeima will convene for its first sitting on November 3, when the term of the 14th Saeima ends.
