Latvian journalists association holds conference and excellence awards ceremony

The Latvian Journalists Association is holding its annual Excellence Awards ceremony and a conference on current issues in journalism and the media environment on Friday, LSM reported.

This year’s conference focuses on journalists’ and media organisations’ relations with audiences and social media platforms, journalists’ digital safety, upcoming elections and reporting during the election period.

The programme includes discussions on restoring public trust in the media, control of the information space, the roles of media, platforms and power, and the boundaries of journalists’ work when threats, sources and public attention enter private life. The final session will address how journalists can get through elections.

The Excellence Awards ceremony will begin at 6.30 p.m. The awards recognise outstanding work and achievements in journalism between June 2025 and July 2026.

Works and authors could be nominated by members of the Latvian Journalists Association and other interested parties.
