LRT reports that Lithuania’s Prosecutor General’s Office has sent to court a criminal case against Druskininkai Municipal Council member Konstantinas Rečkovas, who is accused of abuse of office, handling forged documents and fraud.
According to the pretrial investigation, Rečkovas knew he was entitled to reimbursement for expenses related to his council duties but allegedly forged expense reports from January 2019 to April 2023. The reports included expenses incurred by other people who were not connected with his council activities.
The reports listed expenses for fuel, food and other items, supported by receipts obtained from petrol stations, parcel lockers and other people in Lithuania.
Law enforcement officials say Rečkovas may have unlawfully received more than 8,000 euros from the Druskininkai municipal administration.
The case has been referred to the Alytus District Court.
