Cultural Endowment honours five Estonian music teachers

Estonia’s Cultural Endowment has awarded its 2026 music education recognition prizes to five teachers from different parts of the country, ERR reported.

The laureates are Rein Vendla, a wind instrument and orchestral playing teacher and conductor of the wind orchestra at Pärnu Ülejõe Basic School, the Pärnu Youth Wind Orchestra and the symphony orchestra of Pärnu Music School; Tiiu Peäske, a violin teacher at Tallinn Music and Ballet School; and Galja Jõgi, an instrument teacher at Tallinn Hobby Centre Kullo and instructor of the instrumental ensemble Sõleke.

Also recognised were Heigo Rosin, a percussion teacher at Heino Eller Music School, the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, and Tallinn Music and Ballet School, and Margus Tammemägi, a percussion teacher at Heino Eller Music School.

The Cultural Endowment’s Sound Arts Endowment has presented recognition prizes to music educators since 2012, based on proposals from schools and on initiatives by the endowment.

The prize recognises dedication to professional work and the consistent, high-quality teaching of music. Each teacher receives 2,000 euros.
