Tiidelepp brings Baltic Dance Platform work to Estonia

Estonian choreographer Nele Tiidelepp’s performance “10 ways to dance”, which premiered at the Baltic Dance Platform in Vilnius in April, will reach Estonian audiences from September 4, ERR reports.

The work was also performed in Prague during the summer. It explores what dance and choreography are, and how they relate to each other.

Tiidelepp invited 10 people to act as choreographers for the performance. Some have close ties to dance, while others have no connection to it. All, however, have a connection either with Tiidelepp or with one another through her.

The choreographers include Tom Brennecke, Guðmundur Felixson, Anna Lea Ourø, Xavier Le Roy, Jane Tiidelepp, Liisbeth Horn, Anu Vahtra and Tereza Ondrova. Horn is also the dramaturg, Hendrik Kaljujärv is the sound dramaturg and Eva Tarn is the costume designer.

More than three years ago, Tiidelepp applied to a master’s programme in choreography and performing arts. She did not know at the time that the programme focused specifically on choreography. Believing she would study performance, she instead found herself among people whose lives revolved around dance. She is now nearing graduation.

“10 ways to dance” will be performed in Tallinn three times at the Green Hall at Telliskivi. The September 4 and 10 performances will be in Estonian, while the September 8 performance will be in English.
