Rakett69 contestants say show sharpened pressure problem-solving skills

Ralf Lamp and Tuuli Hanson told ERR that taking part in the television show Rakett69 taught them to solve complex problems quickly under pressure and helped them become more comfortable in front of cameras.

“Taking part in Rakett69 provided a great deal of useful experience and taught me to solve complex problems quickly in stressful situations,” said Lamp, a contestant in the show’s 15th season.

Before appearing on the show, Lamp worried that he might say something foolish on television. “Afterwards, I felt that if I could get any words out in a stressful situation, that was already very good,” he said.

Lamp’s cousin submitted his application for him. Since it was his last opportunity to apply and he had always wanted to take part, Lamp said he felt he had no choice but to try.

Hanson had watched Rakett69 since childhood and had imagined that she might one day be good enough to appear on the show. She did not dare apply in the 10th grade, but decided to try in the 11th grade and was accepted.

Applications are now open for the show’s 17th season. Young people aged 15 to 21 can apply until September 7.

Lamp said he is now building a startup with a former Rakett69 contestant. The company is developing an astronavigation system that uses stars to determine a person’s location on Earth, rather than satellites as GPS does.

He said the people contestants meet on the show are intelligent and kind, while the ability to remain calm under pressure is also important.
