Latvian Television has launched a programme series examining political parties standing in the 15th Saeima elections, with the first episode focusing on Mēs mainām noteikumus, LSM reported.
The series, titled Partija fokusā, is intended to help voters make a critical and informed choice by providing an overview of the parties’ programmes and proposals.
The participating political forces were selected based on SKDS public opinion research and had reached at least 2% support in early August.
Each programme invites five leaders from the party’s electoral district lists, ranked first, second or third. The episodes also include an analysis of the party’s actual work over the previous four years, where applicable, and voters’ views of the party.
The series will examine whether campaign promises are merely a way to attract voters’ attention or a real basis for holding politicians accountable. It will be hosted by LTV journalists Guntis Bojārs, Dāvids Freidenfelds, Gusts Kikusts and Sigurds Siliņš.
The 15th Saeima elections will take place on Saturday, October 3. Polling stations will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and voters will be able to cast their ballots at any polling station. Fourteen candidate lists have been submitted.
Early voting will be available at all polling stations in Latvia from September 28 until election day. The newly elected 15th Saeima is scheduled to meet for its first sitting on November 3, when the current parliament’s mandate will end.
