Self-styled healer charged with 28 sexual crimes, including against child

Latvia’s prosecution service has sent a criminal case to the Riga City Court against a 70-year-old man accused of 28 sexual offences, including crimes against a child, LSM reported, citing information obtained by the LETA news agency from prosecutors.

The man was not registered as a healthcare or healthcare support professional but posed as a healer and provided healing services at his home from February 2024 to May 2025.

During a massage, he allegedly sexually abused a 12-year-old child and used the child to produce pornography, prosecutors said.

Investigators also found a large amount of pornographic material on data storage devices seized from the defendant, including child pornography and material involving zoophilia. He has also been charged in connection with those materials.

Prosecutors said the alleged actions violated the child’s sexual integrity and morality, disrupted the normal physical, mental and sexual development of the child and caused psychological suffering with lasting consequences.
