Literary Wednesdays will open their 64th season at Tallinn’s Writers’ House on Wednesday, ERR reports.
The opening evening on September 2 will be held in the Writers’ House’s black-ceiling hall and will mark 25 years since the publication of the first poetic “Deck of Cards”, a full-sized deck featuring texts by five poets. Adam Cullen, Asko Künnap, Jürgen Rooste and Karl Martin Sinijärv will appear on stage, along with a public first reading of a new work.
Literary Wednesdays are Estonia’s longest-running literary events series. The first event took place in the newly completed Writers’ House in Tallinn in spring 1963, and the series was also widely attended during the 1970s and 1980s.
After Estonia regained independence, the events fell into decline for a time before the Writers’ Union revived them in 1997.
