Summer warmth gives way to cooler, stormier weather
The final day of calendar summer will bring brief rain and temperatures of up to 26 degrees in some parts of Lithuania, while September 1 will be cooler and windier, LRT Radio and LRT.lt report, citing Ineta Daunoravičiūtė, a forecaster with the Hydrometeorological Service.
On Monday, denser clouds will develop and some areas will receive rain, particularly in western districts. Thunderstorms are also possible. Winds will reach 7 to 12 metres per second, while temperatures will range from 21 to 26 degrees. The warmest weather is expected in southern districts.
During the first half of Tuesday night, brief rain is expected, with temperatures of 12 to 17 degrees. Rain will return during the day, with short showers and thunderstorms in many areas. Eastern Lithuania could see heavy rain, while winds will strengthen. Temperatures will range from 17 to 20 degrees, exceeding 20 degrees only in some places.
Similar weather is expected in the middle of the week. Some areas will receive rain on Wednesday night, followed by brief showers during the day. Temperatures will range from 11 to 16 degrees at night and from 18 to 23 degrees during the day.
Rain will fall intermittently in many areas on Thursday and Friday. Winds will be fairly strong and predominantly southerly. Night-time temperatures will range from 10 to 15 degrees, while daytime temperatures will reach 17 to 22 degrees.
The chance of brief rain will remain over the weekend, when temperatures are expected to fall slightly.
