Warm weekend to bring rain before windy start to September

Lithuania will have warm weather over the final days of summer, but short showers will return this weekend and strong winds are expected on September 1, LRT reported, citing Teresė Kaunienė of the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service.
Saturday night will be partly cloudy and dry as the western edge of a departing high-pressure system affects the weather. Southeast winds will reach 8 to 13 metres per second, while temperatures will fall to 11 to 16 degrees Celsius.
On Saturday, a low-pressure trough with an active atmospheric front will approach from the west, gradually bringing more clouds. Rain clouds are expected to reach the coast around midday and move across the country. Most districts will see brief showers, with thunderstorms possible in some places.
Winds will shift from the southeast and south to the southwest, strengthening to 9 to 14 metres per second, with gusts of up to 15 metres per second in some areas. Daytime temperatures will reach 20 to 24 degrees in most of the country, while western districts will be cooler at 17 to 19 degrees.
Brief showers are expected on Sunday night, mainly in eastern districts. After midnight, winds will ease and fog may form locally in southeastern areas.
Sunday will be cloudy with sunny intervals, and only scattered rain is expected, mainly in the northern and eastern parts of the country. Southerly and southwesterly winds will produce gusts of 8 to 13 metres per second. Temperatures will range from 10 to 15 degrees overnight, reaching 16 to 18 degrees on the coast, and will rise to 21 to 26 degrees during the day.
On Monday, a small low-pressure system moving across southern Scandinavia will bring short showers. Despite the rain, temperatures will remain high, ranging from 12 to 17 degrees overnight and reaching 22 to 27 degrees during the day. The coast will see around 20 degrees.
Another Atlantic low-pressure system will reach Lithuania on Tuesday, September 1. Rainy and windy conditions will signal the start of autumn. Some areas will receive rain overnight, while heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected across much of the country during the day.
Southwesterly winds will strengthen to 8 to 13 metres per second, with coastal gusts reaching 15 to 17 metres per second. Temperatures will range from 11 to 16 degrees overnight and from 19 to 24 degrees during the day.
