Police dismantled two drug distribution points in Vilnius’s Markučiai district in July and detained seven people, LRT reported. Investigators determined that carfentanil, an especially dangerous drug, was being distributed by people who had previously lived in a tabor or were connected to them.

In two separate pretrial investigations, officers detained four suspected drug buyers and five people suspected of organising and distributing drugs.

Searches of the suspects’ homes and auxiliary premises uncovered a very large quantity of suspected narcotic substances, money allegedly obtained from drug distribution, equipment for weighing and packaging drugs, and other items relevant to the investigations.

The suspected distributors were charged and placed in the strictest preventive measure, three months’ detention. The suspected buyers were given less restrictive measures.

Depending on the quantity of narcotic or psychotropic substances established by an expert examination, those convicted of the offence could face between two and 15 years in prison.

The investigations are being organised and led by a prosecutor from the Organised Crime and Corruption Investigation Division of the Vilnius Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
