Lithuanian prime minister to meet Estonian counterpart in Tallinn

Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius will visit Tallinn on Thursday for talks with Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal, LRT reported.

The leaders will discuss regional security and defence, joint infrastructure projects, cooperation in the defence industry, support for Ukraine and sanctions against Russia.

Lithuania and Estonia face challenges posed by drones, and Sinkevičius says a joint, coordinated response is needed. He has also highlighted the potential for closer cooperation between the Baltic and Scandinavian countries, saying Estonia’s role in the region is indispensable.

This will be Sinkevičius’s second foreign visit since taking office as prime minister. On August 19 and 20, he visited Latvia, where he met the country’s government and parliamentary leaders and President Edgar Rinkēvičs. Sinkevičius has said the Baltic states are among his first foreign-visit destinations.
