Triin Ruumet’s new play “I Want to Believe” will premiere on September 2 at the Von Krahl Theatre in Tallinn, ERR reported. The production explores people caught up in the whirlwind of a reality show.

Ruumet, who is best known primarily as a film director, said she was interested in popular culture and seemingly superficial subjects because they speak metaphorically about reality.

In “I Want to Believe,” competitive and fiery young men enter a reality show called “Private Life” to compete for a beauty’s heart and her private life. The production asks what happens when the spectacle is no longer enough, the cameras switch off and the participants have to look honestly at themselves for the first time.

The set designer is Ksenia Verbeštšuk, the costume designer is Kärt Hammer, and the musical director and composer is Frederik Mustonen, also known as Boipepperoni. Jürgen Reismaa is the sound designer, Siim Reispass the lighting designer, Tom Tristan Kidron the video director, Jekaterina Abramova the camera operator, Joosep Lõhmus the dramaturg and Juhan Ulfsak the body dramaturg.

The cast includes Kristina Preimann, Edgar Vunš, Herman Pihlak, Karl Birnbaum and Markus Andreas Auling.
