ERR’s “Ukraine Studio” will examine the war in Ukraine and the country’s prospects for joining NATO on Monday at 9:35 p.m., with Lieutenant Colonel Marten Suur and Estonia’s new ambassador to NATO, Kristjan Prikk, as guests.
Suur will comment on recent developments in the war. On August 20, Russia carried out one of its largest air attacks on Kyiv, killing at least 16 people. According to the United Nations, at least 437 civilians were killed in Russian attacks in July.
The attacks have come as Moscow continues to make only modest progress on the front lines.
The programme will also discuss the deadlock in international diplomacy over possible solutions to the war. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy continues to seek the country’s integration into Western security structures, but the programme will examine whether his personnel policy at home and the resulting upheavals support that goal.
Earlier this month, former Commander-in-Chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi said Ukraine had no prospects of joining NATO. Prikk will discuss these issues.
