A warning siren will be activated briefly on Krišjāņa Barona Street in Riga within the next one or two hours, LSM reports, citing the State Fire and Rescue Service.
Residents are urged not to worry when they hear the siren.
Warning sirens are used to alert people to natural or technological disasters, or the threat of such disasters. In emergencies, other alert methods may also be used, including announcements via loudspeakers and the sound systems of emergency service vehicles, as well as door-to-door notifications.
