Southern cyclone to bring heavy rain and strong winds to Lithuania

Heavy rain and wind gusts of up to 23 metres per second are expected in Lithuania this weekend, LRT reported, citing Janas Voitkevičius, a forecaster at the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service.

Friday will be variably cloudy, with light rain in some places. Winds will change direction, with daytime gusts reaching 7 to 12 metres per second. Temperatures will rise to 21 to 26 degrees Celsius.

A southern cyclone will approach Lithuania over the weekend. Much of western Lithuania will receive heavy rain, while lighter rain is expected across the country.

Some thunderstorms are possible on Saturday. Winds will change direction overnight, with gusts of 7 to 2 metres per second. During the day, gusts may reach 23 metres per second. Temperatures will range from 11 to 16 degrees overnight and from 18 to 23 degrees during the day.

Sunday is expected to be rainy, with short spells of rain in many areas during the day. Temperatures will fall to 9 to 14 degrees overnight and reach 17 to 22 degrees during the day.

Rainy weather is also forecast at the beginning of next week, with daytime temperatures expected to reach 23 degrees.
