All three Latvian citizens detained over the suspected arson of a building belonging to Estonian defence technology company Milrem Robotics have been remanded in custody, LSM reported, citing Latvia’s State Security Service.
The fire occurred during the night of August 15, and the State Security Service opened criminal proceedings on August 16. Two suspects were detained on August 17 and the third on August 18. A court subsequently ordered that all three be held in custody.
The service also carried out investigative measures at seven locations linked to the suspects, including residences and vehicles. Officers seized a large amount of data storage devices and are analysing their contents. They also seized items that may have been used to set fire to the building.
The criminal case concerns suspected assistance to a foreign state in activity directed against another state. The suspects are also accused of intentionally damaging or destroying another person’s property by arson.
Latvia’s State Security Service is cooperating closely with its Estonian counterparts and said it would provide more information when possible.
