Rain to persist across Lithuania, with brief Friday improvement

Rain will continue across Lithuania through the weekend, with a brief improvement expected on Friday, LRT reported. Thursday will be cloudy, with showers in many areas and thunderstorms in some places, while Friday will bring more sunshine and warmer temperatures, according to Tadas Kantautas, a forecaster with the Hydrometeorological Service, speaking to LRT Radio.

On Thursday, showers will affect many parts of the country as cloud cover remains changeable. Winds will initially come from the south and southwest before shifting to the west. They will be moderate, with gusts of 15 to 17 metres per second in some areas. Temperatures will reach 18 to 23 degrees Celsius.

Weather conditions will improve slightly on Friday. Rain will clear overnight, winds will ease and fog may form locally as skies clear. Temperatures will fall to 8 to 13 degrees overnight, with warmer conditions along the coast. During the day, cloud cover will vary, with more sunshine, although brief showers and thunderstorms will remain possible in some areas. Temperatures will rise to 22 to 27 degrees.

The warmer weather will be short-lived. Rain will affect many areas on both Saturday night and during the day, with heavy rain and thunderstorms possible in some places. Temperatures will range from 11 to 16 degrees overnight and 16 to 21 degrees during the day.

Sunday is expected to be fairly rainy. There will be local rain overnight, while brief showers will move across the country during the day. Heavier rain is possible in western districts. Temperatures will range from 9 to 14 degrees overnight, with warmer conditions along the coast, and from 16 to 21 degrees during the day.
