Presidency says LRT report does not affect assessment of prime minister

The information published by LRT about Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius’s wife’s work does not affect President Gitanas Nausėda’s assessment of the prime minister, the Presidency told news agency ELTA.

“The information published today by LRT’s Investigations Unit, insofar as it goes, does not affect the president’s assessment of the prime minister,” the Presidency said in a written response.

LRT reported on Wednesday that Aistė Sinkevičienė became head of the Public and International Relations Division at Kaunas District Municipality without a competitive selection process and also works at Raudondvaris Manor, a municipality-controlled institution.

According to the report, Sinkevičienė works half-time as a public relations specialist at the manor remotely. Her contact details are not publicly available, while the institution’s deputy director said she was unaware of such a colleague. She said the manor had no specific person responsible for public relations, which were handled by the institution’s director.

Sinkevičienė has worked at Kaunas District Municipality since 2013. After returning from maternity leave in 2023, she became a senior specialist in the Public and International Relations Division. In July 2024, she was appointed head of the division without a competitive selection process.

Her income exceeded 73,500 euros last year, with approximately one-quarter of the amount earned for work at Raudondvaris Manor.

According to LRT’s Investigations Unit, other people linked to Kaunas District Social Democrats also work at the manor. They include the district mayor’s adviser and the adviser’s spouse, an adviser to Education Minister Raminta Popovienė in the Seimas, and the son of Snieguolė Navickienė, a former manor director and leader of the Kaunas District Social Democrats, among others.
