Estonia’s envoy Intelmann presents credentials to Zelensky

Estonian Ambassador to Ukraine Tiina Intelmann presented her credentials to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday, ERR reported. Their subsequent meeting focused on developing bilateral relations, continued support for Ukraine under Russian aggression and preparations for a Ukraine recovery conference in Tallinn next January.

The officials also discussed Ukraine’s closer integration with transatlantic structures and its progress towards joining the European Union.

Intelmann said that the Estonian government and people consistently and comprehensively support Ukraine.

“Ukraine fights every day for the security of all Europe. We hope that one day we can sit together as equals at the same table in the European Union and NATO,” she said.

Intelmann has worked at Estonia’s Foreign Ministry since 1991. She served as Estonia’s permanent representative to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe in Vienna from 1999 to 2002 and as permanent representative to the United Nations from 2005 to 2011. In 2010 and 2011, she was Estonia’s ambassador to Israel and also to Montenegro.

On December 12, 2011, she was elected for a three-year term as president of the Assembly of States Parties to the International Criminal Court. From 2014 to 2017, she led the European Union delegation in Liberia as the EU ambassador. She was Estonia’s ambassador to the United Kingdom from 2017 to 2021 and the EU ambassador and head of the EU delegation in Somalia from 2021 to 2023.

From 2024 to 2026, Intelmann served as the Foreign Ministry’s diplomatic representative with special assignments on mediation and multilateralism. She became Estonia’s ambassador to Ukraine in August 2026.

Estonia and Ukraine established diplomatic relations on January 4, 1992. Estonia has provided Ukraine with political, military and economic support, as well as humanitarian aid, and is contributing to the country’s long-term reconstruction. A Ukraine Recovery Conference is scheduled to take place in Tallinn in January 2027.
