Police detain drunk suspect after young man found murdered in Klaipėda

LRT reported that a young man was found murdered in an apartment in Klaipėda, while police detained a suspect who was heavily intoxicated.

The Police Department said the body of a man born in 1997 was found with injuries in an apartment on Vyturio Street at about 11:58 a.m. on Tuesday.

The suspect, a man born in 1982, was detained and taken into custody after registering a blood alcohol level of 3 promille, classified as severe intoxication.

A pretrial investigation into murder has been launched. Under Lithuania’s Criminal Code, killing another person is punishable by seven to 15 years in prison.
