First Swedish prisoners arrive at Tartu prison

The first Swedish prisoners arrived at Tartu prison in Estonia on Tuesday, with their number estimated at fewer than 10, ERR reported.

Several sources told ERR that the prisoners arrived by plane after noon and reached Tartu at about 3:30 p.m.

The Estonian Prison Service did not confirm their arrival or disclose their number at about 1 p.m., advising journalists to wait for a press release.

Tartu prison director Merle Ulst was due to brief journalists on the prisoners’ arrival at 4:30 p.m. and answer questions at a press conference broadcast live by ERR.
