Hungr alternative club and community bar to close in October

Hungr, an alternative nightclub, queer space and community bar in Noblessner, will permanently close on October 11, ERR reports. The venue’s closing event will run from October 9 to 11.

The club, which began operating on Tulika Street in April 2023, moved in October 2024 to the same building as nightclub Hall at Peetri 6.

In a social media statement, Hungr’s organisers said they had always believed in DIY culture and building something from nothing, but that the club’s reality had caught up with them.

“Running an independent club with a handful of people, limited resources and the uncertainty surrounding the major renovation of our home has reached a breaking point,” they said.

The organisers added that they were grateful to their friends at Hall, who rented them space to continue operating and growing after Hungr’s first location failed.

“Because we never know more than a few months in advance whether the building will be renovated or not, we feel that continuing along the same path is simply not possible,” Hungr said.

The club’s organisers said they had kept Hungr alive for four years at the expense of their personal finances, sleep, mental health and private lives. They added that they would make the same choice again, because what happened at Hungr would not have happened elsewhere.

Hungr will host a packed programme over its final two months. The detailed schedule for the closing event will be announced soon.
