Parliamentarian Daiva Ulbinaitė has been elected to lead the Vilnius district section of the Homeland Union Lithuanian Christian Democrats, LRT reported.

Criticising the current Vilnius District Municipal Council, Ulbinaitė said changes in local government were necessary.

“It is time to stop tolerating political arbitrariness in the Vilnius district council, the segregation of people and nomenklatura traditions,” Ulbinaitė said in a statement cited by LRT. She added that the party would mobilise to bring more new, strong, honest and modern professionals to the council.

TS-LKD chairman Laurynas Kasčiūnas said the Vilnius district section would take part in the 2027 municipal elections as a stronger political force, aiming to double its representation on the council.

The party said seven deputy section chairs would oversee separate policy areas, assemble teams and prepare proposals and decisions to accelerate the district’s development. Seven open thematic workshops are planned for the autumn, with invitations extended to party members, experts and district residents.
