Cold front to bring rain and cooler weather to Lithuania

Dry and warm weather will continue in Lithuania on Saturday, but a cold atmospheric front will bring rain and lower temperatures from Sunday, LRT reported, citing forecaster Teresė Kaunienė of the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service.

Saturday night will be dry, with temperatures ranging from 10 to 15 degrees Celsius, and 16 to 18 degrees near the coast. The day will be clear and dry, with temperatures reaching 25 to 30 degrees. The warmest conditions are expected in central and southwestern districts.

On Sunday night, the cold front will approach from the west. Short periods of rain are expected in western districts during the second half of the night, along with moderate southerly and southwesterly winds. Temperatures will remain between 14 and 19 degrees.

Short periods of rain will affect much of the country on Sunday, with thunderstorms possible in some places. Winds will shift to the southwest and west and strengthen to 8 to 13 metres per second, with coastal gusts reaching 16 metres per second. Daytime temperatures will range from 19 to 24 degrees in most areas and reach 25 to 28 degrees in some eastern districts.

Lower air pressure will bring more typical Lithuanian summer weather at the start of next week. Short periods of rain and possible thunderstorms are forecast in many areas on Monday. Southwesterly and westerly winds will continue, with gusts of 7 to 12 metres per second and coastal gusts of up to 15 metres per second at night. Temperatures will fall to 10 to 15 degrees overnight, or 16 to 18 degrees near the coast, and reach 18 to 23 degrees during the day.

Rainy weather will continue on Tuesday. Rain is expected in some areas overnight and in many places during the day. Short showers will predominate, but rain may be persistent and heavy in some western and northern districts. Night-time temperatures will range from 8 to 13 degrees, or 14 to 17 degrees near the coast, while daytime temperatures will reach 17 to 22 degrees.
