Fööniks artists open mirror exhibition at Kastellaanimaja gallery

The women artists’ group Fööniks opened its joint exhibition “Mirror” at Kastellaanimaja gallery on Wednesday, ERR reported.
The exhibition is built around the artists’ individual perspectives and direct reflection. Each of the group’s artists contributes one artwork and one physical mirror, creating a mirrored labyrinth in which the artworks meet the viewer.
The exhibition’s atmosphere engages with the film poetry of Andrei Tarkovsky, bringing memory layers, frozen moments and reflections of light to the foreground. It aims to create a space where time appears to stop.
“Mirror” is Fööniks’ fourth joint exhibition. Earlier exhibitions were held at Pärnu City Gallery, the Raplamaa Contemporary Art Centre and Vabaduse Gallery.
The name Fööniks refers to the indestructibility and constant renewal of the creative spirit. The group was formed in 2025 to create a platform for women artists to engage in dialogue and organise joint exhibitions.
The participating artists are Lylian Meister, Katrin Kaev, Tiiu Rebane, Iris Jurma-Kangur, Maria-Kristiina Ulas, Kalli Kalde, Katrin Saag, Kaire Nurk, Tiina Tammetalu, Ülle Saatmäe, Anne Rudanovski, Marina Aleksejeva and Alide Zvorovski. Eveli Varik is the curator and designer.
The exhibition will remain open at Kastellaanimaja gallery until September 6.
