Man charged after displaying guns and threatening murder on TikTok

A man has been charged with illegally possessing firearms and ammunition after allegedly displaying weapons and threatening to kill another person during a TikTok livestream, LRT reports.

The Telšiai District Prosecutor’s Office is leading the pre-trial investigation. The suspect has been placed under two preventive measures: the seizure of his documents and a written undertaking not to leave.

According to preliminary information, several members of the public reported on August 10 that a man in Telšiai district was livestreaming on TikTok while displaying firearms and ammunition and making the threat.

Officers from Aro detained the intoxicated suspect in a car at the scene. A search of his parents’ home uncovered and seized illegally held weapons, including a homemade automatic firearm possibly converted from a Mosin carbine and bearing no identification markings, a Beretta pistol, a Borner Sport 331 Airsoft pistol, and 82 rounds of various calibres.

The suspect was detained and taken to a holding facility. The investigation is being conducted by officers from the Telšiai District Police Commissariat under the direction of a prosecutor from the Telšiai District Prosecutor’s Office of the Šiauliai Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

If convicted of such an offence, he could face a fine, restriction of liberty, arrest or imprisonment for up to five years.
