Fatboy Slim to perform in Estonia for first time

British dance music artist Fatboy Slim will perform in Tallinn on November 21, marking his first appearance in Estonia, ERR reported. The concert will take place at the Põhjala factory, a former industrial venue, which the artist selected himself.

Fatboy Slim, whose real name is Quentin Leo Cook, is regarded as a pioneer of dance music and one of the leading figures in the big beat genre. His work helped bring electronic dance music into the mainstream.

Cook began his musical career as the bassist of an indie band in 1985. After the band broke up three years later, he bought his first controller, synthesiser and samplers. His early remixes followed, and the 1990 song Dub Be Good to Me, released by the Beats International collective, of which Cook was a member, reached the top of the charts.

Cook later played guitar in an acid jazz band before forming the house music duo Pizzaman with John Reid. Three tracks from their only album, Pizzamania, reached the charts.

He launched the Fatboy Slim project in 1995. His debut album, Better Living Through Chemistry, was released in 1996, followed in 1998 by the breakthrough album You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby, which included Praise You, Right Here, Right Now and The Rockafeller Skank. Fatboy Slim has released four studio albums, the latest being 2004’s Palookaville.
