Scammers steal about 28,200 euros from three people in Lithuania

Scammers defrauded three people in Marijampolė and Vilnius of about 28,200 euros, police told LRT.

A man born in 1968 reported on Monday that he discovered at a bank in Marijampolė that unknown people had illegally transferred and taken 20,000 euros from his account on May 26 at 8:11 a.m.

Vilnius police also received a report from a woman born in 1955, who said 5,349.30 euros had been fraudulently taken from her bank account in Vilnius between July 28 and July 30.

Another man, born in 1952, reported that 2,900 euros had been fraudulently withdrawn from his bank account in Vilnius on August 9. He had entered his banking details while attempting to log in to what may have been a fake banking website.

Pretrial investigations into the suspected fraud have been launched.
