Lithuania backs Armenia’s European path and reforms, PM says

LRT reported that Lithuania will continue supporting Armenia’s European choice and efforts to strengthen bilateral ties, Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius said after speaking by phone with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Tuesday.

“Lithuania supports Armenia’s and your personal efforts to strengthen democratic reforms, resilience and deepen ties with the European Union. We are ready to share our broad experience and expand cooperation,” Sinkevičius said.

According to a statement from the Government press service, Lithuania supports all practical European Union initiatives aimed at strengthening Armenia’s resilience.

The two prime ministers also discussed the security situation in the region and Europe as Russia continues its military aggression against Ukraine.

Sinkevičius highlighted the historic importance of the Washington summit and the initialling of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan one year earlier, on August 8. He also emphasised Pashinyan’s personal contribution and the efforts of both neighbouring countries to achieve lasting and sustainable peace.

The Lithuanian prime minister expressed support for the peace process and hope for further progress and the normalisation of relations.
