Authorities locate last known position of missing Lithuanian climber

Lithuania’s Foreign Ministry has identified the last known location of a Lithuanian climber who went missing in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan, LRT reported.

The ministry said the location was established in cooperation with local telecommunications companies. The Lithuanian embassy in Kazakhstan and Lithuania’s honorary consul in Kyrgyzstan are working with Kyrgyz authorities, including rescue services.

The missing climber is S. Rubcovas, who disappeared after climbing the Kurumdy peak with two experienced Belarusian mountaineers, Maksim Palianski and Mikalaj Sviridov. There has been no contact with the group since August 2.

The embassy is also in contact with the missing person’s relatives in Lithuania, the ministry said.
