Meelte Videvik festival brings unlikely musical pairings to Pärnu County

Kristjan Järvi’s Meelte Videvik experience festival will bring musicians from different creative worlds together in Pärnu County from August 15 to 16, ERR reports.

The festival will run from sunset to sunrise and feature collaborations between Kadri Voorand, Mari Kalkun and German electronic music producer Robot Koch; Marten Kuningas and Puuluup; and folk music group Rüüt and British DJ and turntablist Mr Switch.

“We are not simply putting together a list of artists, but creating encounters from which something entirely new may emerge,” said Teele Raam, the festival’s project manager. She said the artists would be given the conditions to meet without being told in advance what the result should be.

For Kristjan Järvi, the festival’s creator and artistic director, this unpredictability is an important part of the musical experience.

“I have felt on stage how the hall does not wait for the next note, but breathes together in the moment. It cannot be controlled; it simply happens,” Järvi said.

The festival will not have a conventional schedule with events set out to the exact minute. Visitors will know which people and creators are taking part, but not exactly how the shared journey will develop, Raam said.

Meelte Videvik is being held for the fourth time. It began in 2023 on the banks of the Reiu River in Pärnu County, moved to Elva in 2024 and took place in Tajus, Jõelähtme, in 2025. This year, it will be held in the yard of Marguse Metsamajad in Silla village.
