Estonian political party Parempoolsed has invited Kalev Stoicescu to join its ranks after he left Eesti 200, ERR reported. Stoicescu said he would announce his decision within the next week or two and that joining Parempoolsed was a possible option.

Parempoolsed deputy chair Siim Kiisler said the party had made a concrete offer to Stoicescu and would probably meet with him again soon to discuss membership.

“I personally would like that,” Kiisler said.

Stoicescu said he had received specific offers from political parties but declined to say which parties he was considering.

Parempoolsed chair Lavly Perling said a progressive person seeking a party with a clear worldview had few alternatives besides Parempoolsed. She added that Stoicescu would be welcome if his views aligned with those of the party.

“I have not noticed that he holds positions that are completely opposite to ours,” Perling said.

Stoicescu announced on Sunday that he was leaving Eesti 200. On Monday, Meelis Kiili announced that he was leaving the Reform Party. Perling said the departures indicated weakness in the government, blaming the governing parties’ own decisions.

She said uncertainty in the economy and continuous tax increases had placed people in Estonia in a difficult situation, adding that such decisions eventually affected the political level.

Stoicescu said on Sunday that he had left Eesti 200’s board in February 2024 and had not run in the October 2025 local elections. He said he had spent a long time considering whether to remain in politics, but that people close to him and voters had unanimously encouraged him to continue and run in the next elections to the Estonian parliament.

He said he wanted to continue contributing to Estonia’s future, particularly in defence, security and foreign policy.

Stoicescu ran for parliament with Eesti 200 in 2019, receiving 395 votes. In the 2023 parliamentary elections, he received 3,663 votes in electoral district No. 5, covering Hiiu, Lääne and Saare counties, and was elected. He received 1,678 votes in the 2024 European Parliament elections but was not elected.
