A specialist from the Resocialisation Department at Vilnius Prison was removed from duty after testing positive for alcohol on Monday, LRT reported.
An initial test found 0.27 parts per thousand of alcohol in her system. A repeat test showed 0.30 parts per thousand.
After allowing for a measurement error of 0.05 parts per thousand, the final result was 0.25 parts per thousand.
The Lithuanian Prison Service said all circumstances surrounding the incident would be assessed before decisions were made on further action.
The service stressed that employees must report for duty sober and properly prepared to perform their duties.
Vilnius Prison has recently faced several scandals involving intoxicated officers, as well as officers and other employees who entered into intimate relationships with inmates.
