Lithuania records 6,204 marriages in six months

Lithuania recorded 6,204 marriages in the first half of the year, the Ministry of Justice told LRT.
Civil registry offices registered 4,087 marriages. The highest number was recorded in Vilnius, with 1,186, followed by Kaunas with 726, Klaipėda with 285 and Šiauliai with 221. Panevėžys recorded the fewest among the country’s largest cities, with 134 marriages.
During the same period, 911 marriages conducted according to church or other religious confessional procedures were entered into the state records. A further 1,206 marriages registered in foreign countries were recorded.
Couples also signed 1,234 prenuptial or postnuptial agreements during the six-month period: 394 before marriage and 840 after marriage. During the same period last year, 1,143 such agreements were signed, including 370 before marriage and 773 after marriage.
In the first half of 2025, 6,500 marriages were registered or entered into Lithuania’s state records.
