Croatian pianist Ivo Pogorelich to perform in Tallinn

Legendary Croatian pianist Ivo Pogorelich will give a solo recital at the Estonia Concert Hall in Tallinn on September 8, ERR reported.

With more than 40 years of stage experience, Pogorelich is known for his suggestive interpretations, refined musical taste, technical mastery and uncompromising artistic standards. His distinctive talent and innovative, original approach have left a deep mark on contemporary classical music.

“Ivo Pogorelich’s playing leaves no listener emotionally unmoved. His performances reflect the darkness of his artistic nature, often expressed through surprising interpretive choices and sound worlds,” pianist Sten Heinoja said.

The programme will focus on Bach, Beethoven and Brahms. Bach’s English Suite brings together elements of German, Italian and French musical styles. Brahms’s personal and subjective intermezzos reflect the composer’s interest in lullabies. Beethoven’s final piano sonata pushes the instrument’s expressive possibilities to their limits, while also being rhythmically visionary and technically demanding.

The programme will also include Ravel’s Noble and Sentimental Waltzes, a set of eight waltzes inspired by Schubert’s music. Beneath their seemingly light character lies a complex and highly organised musical structure.
