Clear skies on Sunday to give way to rain and storms

Sunday will be clear and warm in Lithuania, but rain will spread across the country from Monday, LRT reports, citing forecaster Elena Kliukina.

Most areas will have little cloud or clear skies on Sunday. Winds will be variable at 3 to 8 metres per second, while temperatures will reach 21 to 26 degrees Celsius.

Short summer showers are expected at the start of the new working week as a cyclone gradually strengthens over Scandinavia. On Monday, brief rain is forecast in western Lithuania, with thunderstorms possible in some places. Winds will come from the south, strengthening from 4 to 9 metres per second at night to 7 to 12 metres per second during the day. Temperatures will range from 11 to 16 degrees overnight and reach 24 to 29 degrees during the day.

On Tuesday, short showers and thunderstorms will spread to many parts of the country. Westerly winds will reach 7 to 12 metres per second, with gusts of up to 15 to 18 metres per second possible during thunderstorms. Temperatures will ease, ranging from 12 to 17 degrees at night and 18 to 23 degrees during the day.
