Discussion to examine Estonia’s underused knowledge-transfer doctoral model

ERR will broadcast a discussion at 4.30 p.m. on Saturday examining how knowledge-transfer doctoral studies could bring academia and business closer together in Estonia.

The model remains unfamiliar to many, although it could help create solutions with a practical impact, improve companies’ competitiveness and make doctoral education more practice-oriented.

The panel will include Andri Haran, chief executive of the Estonian Association of the Machinery Industry; Jaan Vihalemm, a knowledge-transfer doctoral student at BiotaTec; Jarek Kurnitski of Tallinn University of Technology; and Katrin Kiisler, head of the research department at the Ministry of Education and Research. The discussion will be moderated by Keiu Telve, a board member of the Estonian Center for Anthropology.

The discussion is organised by the Estonian Research Agency and will take place at the Opinion Festival.
