Police arrest man after finding firearms in Alytus

Police in Alytus detained a man after officers found weapons in his possession, LRT reported, citing the police.

At about 9:17 p.m. on Thursday, police received a report that a man born in 1988 might be carrying a firearm on Miško Street in Alytus.

With assistance from officers of Aras, the police anti-terrorist operations unit, the man was detained and placed in a long-term detention facility. A search found and seized weapons.

A pretrial investigation has been opened into the unlawful possession of firearms, ammunition, explosives or explosive substances.
