Leen Kadakas to become Kroonika magazine editor-in-chief

Leen Kadakas, the former head of Universal Music Baltics, will become editor-in-chief of Kroonika magazine, ERR reported, citing Eesti Ekspress. She will start work in September.

Kadakas, 45, spent 23 years in the music business. She worked for five years at MT Holding, a company run by Sven Aabreldaal that held a Universal Music licence, before joining Universal Music Group.

Before entering the music industry, Kadakas worked at the Estonian Women’s Research and Information Centre, focusing on equality and human trafficking.

Kadakas said she expected to be compared with Ingrid Veidenberg, who became closely associated with Kroonika over the years.

“Maybe I was Universal’s Ingrid Veidenberg, because I managed to stay in one organisation for so long,” Kadakas said with a smile, adding that she might also remain at the magazine for a couple of decades.

Veidenberg left the editor-in-chief position on June 5 after serving in the role for a total of 18 years. She led Kroonika from 1997 to 2007 and again from 2019.

In the intervening period, Veidenberg headed Postimees’s weekend supplement Arter and launched Delfi Meedia’s weekend newspaper LP, serving as its editor-in-chief for seven years.
