Latvia’s Health Inspectorate has lifted its recommendation against swimming in Saldus Lake, LSM reports.

Repeated swimming water samples taken from the lake on July 27 showed that contamination with Escherichia coli, or E. coli, had decreased and that microbiological indicators were within permitted limits.

Swimming is currently allowed at all official inland and coastal swimming sites in Latvia.

The next laboratory tests of water at all official swimming sites, including the final tests of the season, are scheduled for August 24 and 25. Current water-quality results, an official map of swimming sites and information about safety can be found on the Health Inspectorate’s website.
