Heat to bring temperatures up to 32 degrees
Temperatures in Lithuania will rise to 32 degrees Celsius by midweek, LRT Radio reported, citing Simona Dalinkevičiūtė, a forecaster with the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service.
Tuesday will be warm, with temperatures reaching 24 to 29 degrees during the day. A high-pressure vortex will keep most of the country clear and dry. Southern districts will see somewhat more cloud cover as rain zones pass south of Lithuania, but no rainfall is expected there. Winds will be light and from easterly directions.
Wednesday night will be clear and dry, with temperatures of 11 to 16 degrees. The first half of the day will remain mostly clear, but a cyclone and trough will approach from the west in the afternoon. Clouds bringing brief rain are likely to reach western districts in the evening. Thunderstorms are also possible, with wind gusts strengthening to 15 to 17 metres per second. Temperatures will rise to 27 to 32 degrees.
Rain is possible in some parts of the country on Thursday during both the night and the day. Thunderstorms and wind gusts of up to 17 to 18 metres per second are also possible. Night-time temperatures will fall to 15 to 20 degrees, while daytime temperatures will reach 26 to 31 degrees and locally up to 32 degrees. The western edge of the country will be cooler, with temperatures ranging from 22 to 25 degrees.
