Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys and Defence Minister Robertas Kaunas are planning visits to the United States this autumn, LRT reported.

“Visits are planned for the autumn. Both the foreign minister’s visit to America and my visit to America are being planned,” Kaunas told Lrytas TV on Monday.

The United States is one of Lithuania’s most important allies. Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius has said that strengthening ties with Washington is one of the priorities of the 21st Government’s security and foreign policy agenda.

The United States is currently reviewing the presence of its troops in Europe, and it remains unclear whether American troops will continue rotating through Lithuania.

US troops have been regularly deployed in battalion formations in Lithuania since 2019. After Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine, Washington changed the status of its forces in Lithuania to continuous rotational deployment.
