Kaišiadorys to build 4.3 million euro care home

Kaišiadorys plans to build a new care home with about 60 places for older people at a cost of 4.3 million euros, LRT reported, citing the BNS news agency.

The nearly 2,900-square-metre facility will include a physiotherapy hall, music and aromatherapy rooms, a salt room and a digital patient monitoring system.

The infrastructure will be adapted for people with various disabilities, according to a statement from the municipality. It is also expected to reduce reliance on external service providers and create new jobs.

Kaišiadorys Mayor Šarūnas Čėsna said the project would improve access to high-quality long-term and short-term care services for residents closer to home.

A technical design is currently being prepared. Once it is completed and a construction permit is obtained at the end of the year, the municipality will seek a contractor. It expects construction to begin next summer.

About 2.9 million euros of the project will be financed from European Union funds, with the remainder covered by the municipality.
