Jupiter streams acclaimed Japanese thriller Monster

ERR recommends the Japanese thriller drama “Monster”, now available on the Jupiter streaming service.

The film follows Saori, a single mother who notices that her fifth-grade son Minato has begun behaving strangely and aggressively. When Minato says that his teacher, Hori, is bullying him, Saori demands an explanation from the school.

The perspectives and stories of the mother, son and teacher gradually intersect, revealing that circumstances are not what they initially appear to be.

“Monster” was nominated for the Palme d’Or and won the Best Screenplay award at the Cannes Film Festival. The film was directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda, while its score was composed by Ryuichi Sakamoto. It was Sakamoto’s final work.
