ETV2 dedicates Sunday programming to Aleksei Turovski

Estonian public broadcaster ERR reports that ETV2’s Sunday theme evening is dedicated to zoologist Aleksei Turovski, who will turn 80 on August 4.

The programming begins at 7.30 p.m. with “Starship: Aleksei Turovski,” a 2009 programme in which Turovski discusses the nature of animals. The host is Katrin Viirpalu and the director is Kalev Lepik.

At 8.45 p.m., “Turovski’s fish segments” from 2021 will feature Turovski introducing interesting fish species.

“Together with nature: Aleksei Turovski,” from 2016, follows at 9.20 p.m. The programme was filmed at Turovski’s picturesque summer home on Saaremaa, an island, and explores the principles that have guided his life, work and family. It was made by Maria Kivirand and Robi Uppin.

At 9.40 p.m., “The President’s Book Club: Kreutzwald’s Ancient Tales of the Estonian People” will focus on Friedrich Reinhold Kreutzwald’s book. The guests include President Alar Karis, zoologist Aleksei Turovski and actor and director Taavi Tõnisson.

“How are you living: Aleksei Turovski,” from 2017, starts at 10.10 p.m. Turovski discusses his life in the programme hosted by Reet Linna.

The evening continues at 10.25 p.m. with the 2024 documentary “Estonian stories: Ticks or people.” The film takes viewers to Estonian forests, laboratories and the paths of folk tradition, examining ticks, their scientific background and their impact on people.

The final programme, “Morning with Anu: Aleksei Turovski,” airs at 10.55 p.m. It is a 2015 edition of the programme in which Turovski was a guest.
